Course Overview
This unit of competency covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare and operate vehicles and related equipment to patrol pipelines or otherwise drive across a variety of terrains.
This unit of competency applies to operators who are required to check their vehicle daily for damage, ensure fuels and lubricant levels are maintained, effect minor repairs, prepare and maintain field equipment, and communicate with their base station.

Delivered together with RIIVEH305F and RIIVEH201E in a single training day, this unit focuses on the full field driving system — from pre-departure planning and vehicle checks through to communications protocols, journey management plans and emergency response when things go wrong far from assistance.

What You'll Learn
- Complete a comprehensive pre-departure vehicle inspection and loadout check for field operations

Assessment Method
Assessment is through a written knowledge questionnaire and scenario-based discussion covering pre-departure planning, field hazard recognition, communications procedures and breakdown response. A practical vehicle inspection check may be included where a vehicle is available.
Prerequisites
Participants must hold a current driver's licence. This unit is delivered together with RIIVEH305F Operate and maintain a four wheel drive vehicle and RIIVEH201E Operate a light vehicle in a single training day.
